Burke to helm waste association

The Solid Waste Association of North America has appointed Amy Lestition Burke executive director and CEO. She succeeds David Biderman, who stepped down in March after leading for eight years.

“Amy’s combined experience serving as an executive director/CEO for several associations and her understanding of industry sustainability initiatives will provide new leadership to SWANA and further strengthen our association and its position in solid waste and resource management,” said Art Mercer, SWANA board president.

Most recently, Lestition Burke was vice president of industry solutions at the Consumer Brands Association. Previously, she was executive director of the Special Libraries Association and Association Media & Publishing. 

She has bachelor’s and master’s degrees in international affairs from The George Washington University.

Clark claims top role at professional employers

The National Association of Professional Employer Organizations has selected Casey Clark to be the group’s next president and CEO, effective December 5. He will succeed Pat Clearly, who earlier this year announced his plans to step down at year end. 

“Casey’s strong background in strategic communications and association leadership, along with his deep understanding of the world of advocacy in Washington, DC, will be key to NAPEO’s success in the months and years ahead,” said search committee chair and NAPEO immediate past chair Kristen Appleman, senior vice president/general manager of ADP TotalSource.

Clark is currently senior vice president of strategic communications at the American Gaming Association, where he has worked since 2017. Previously, he was managing director of strategic communications at business management consultant FTI Consulting. 

He has a bachelor’s degree in communication management from the University of Dayton.

American Chemistry Council—Ryan Jackson has joined ACC as vice president of federal affairs. He most recently led the National Mining Association’s government and political affairs shop. Previously, he was chief of staff for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and spent 14 years working for the United States Senate. 

American Society of Association Executives—John Bacon has joined ASAE as vice president of enterprise sales. He was most recently vice president of account management at Naylor Association Solutions, where he spent 13 years in two stints with the company.

Association for Diagnostics & Laboratory Medicine—Maritel Dasco has joined ADLM as chief financial officer. She has spent the past seven years as senior director and controller at the American Association for Clinical Chemistry. Previously, she was controller for Power to Decide, a national campaign to prevent unplanned pregnancy.

Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology—Rebecca Bartles has joined APIC as executive director of APIC’s Center for Infection Prevention and Control Research, Practice & Innovation. Most recently, she was executive director of infectious disease management and prevention at Providence Health, the second largest nonprofit health system in the United States. 

National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors—Roger Moore has joined NAIFA as policy director. He was previously a senior policy analyst at the Council of State Governments.

National Rural Electric Cooperative Association—Kelly Cushman has been named NRECA’s vice president of political programs. She was most recently vice president of domestic policy for the National Pork Producers Council. Previously, she worked for the U.S. Department of Defense, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the White House during the George W. Bush administration.
